Coach Van Dyke lives in Lakewood Ranch with his wife Marlene and son Caden 9. This will be Greg’s 3rd year coaching for the EMB Bulldogs and first year as the Head Coach.
Greg enjoyed an 18-year stint of playing football which included playing for a State Championship in Highschool – Hall of Fame inductee and earning a Championship during his collegiate career at Grand Valley State University. Greg played Quarterback and Middle Linebacker as a young boy and all the way through Highschool. During college, Greg was a 3-year starting Middle Linebacker, Captain and record holder for tackles while attending Grand Valley State University.
Although Greg signed with a Sports Agent after college and had a short stint on the professional level, his competitive spirit landed in the business world shortly after his football career was over. Greg enjoys being entrepreneurial, turning around, starting and running businesses. Currently Greg is an executive level Director of Sales for a SaaS based Technology company.
One of the most influential coaches Greg played for was Brian Kelly, now the Head Coach of Norte Dame. Greg shared, “coach Kelly taught me what creating a vision is and how to set goals to accomplish and live out that vision. Football is a game of inches and it is the definition of a team sport. Everyone has a job on the team and if all 11 players on the field execute their job, success is the result. As many of us often say, I wish I knew back then what I know now. My intent in coaching is to pay it forward and provide key information and knowledge to this group of kids on 10U that I learned during my career. I want to make sure the 10U team understand and can execute the fundamentals of the game and most importantly, have fun playing this amazing sport.”
